Charles Park (1987, USA)

Chrales Park was born in Los Angeles, California in April 1987. He holds a BA in communications from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and MFA in Photography from Parsons New School. He works with photography, video installation, and sculpture.

His work has been exhibited in New York City and internationally including the Pingyao Photography festival in China.

My photographic practice depicts the deterioration of vital and non-vital materials in a site specific space. The objects I am researching have been invisible for decades and have amalgamated and oxidized beyond recognition. My investigation exposes this latent process bringing to question the fundamental values of materials of the future. By further investigating these new extractions and collisions between unknown matter, this tension helps understand the creation of the cosmos.

I am interested in hybridizing these materials through the union of primordial and synthetic matter. I join the sensual and perceptual within my practice, unpacking the inner connotation. My obsession and understanding of the Xray apparatus has helped me see the internal matter and fiber on a molecular level. This containment and control of radical rays has led me to furher my relationship with pohotography. The image adds scope of vision enhanced to expose the negative and positive embedded within all matter.
