Su trabajo se enfoca en generar contranarrativas que brotan de diferentes terrenos creativos como la apropiación, el collage, la historia oral, el ensayo audiovisual y la filosofía del hazlo tú mismo. Su recorrido en el arte está fuertemente ligado a la colaboración y a las prácticas inclusivas, involucrando agentes o visiones que normalmente están excluidos de la historia oficial y de los circuitos homogeneizadores del arte.
Residente en FAAP, São Paulo, Brasil (2024). Becada para cursar Materia Abierta: escuela de verano sobre teoría, arte y tecnología en 2023. Recibió el premio Prince Claus Seed 2022. Obtuvo el primer lugar de la Bienal de Arte de Veracruz en 2020. Fue co-curadora de las exposiciones: Tráfico de Bondades, en PACE, Iowa, EUA (2023) y Desde Afuera, en Amplify Arts, Omaha, EUA (2022). De manera independiente trabaja en pedagogías experimentales, proyectos autogestivos e investigación artística.
Como parte de mi estancia en The Lab Program, en Ciudad de México estaré avanzando una investigación artística que trabaja desde el video-ensayo, esquemas de pensamiento y archivos-objetos (objetos en cerámica, tela y técnica mixta). ✨ Neomitologías para comprender el tiempo ✨ es una exploración sobre la percepción del tiempo en el mundo contemporáneo, comparándola con la percepción del tiempo en horizontes ancestrales, diaspóricos y decoloniales. Trabajando desde un enfoque latinoamericano, durante mi residencia me enfocaría en investigar la percepción del tiempo en las culturas ancestrales, en tensión con la percepción del tiempo en relación a la metrópoli. Mi enfoque se centrará especialmente en la Ciudad de México y el territorio central de México.
Their work focuses on generating counter-narratives that emerge from different creative fields such as appropriation, collage, oral history, audiovisual essays, and DIY philosophy. Their journey in art is deeply connected to collaboration and inclusive practices, involving agents or perspectives that are typically excluded from official history and the homogenizing circuits of art.

Como parte de su residencia en The Lab Program, en Ciudad de México, la artista mexicana Enero y Abril, da continuidad a una investigación artística que explora la percepción del tiempo rastreando algunas nociones sobre este tema, la artista utiliza, esquemas de pensamiento, archivos-objetos (cerámica, tela y técnica mixta) y gráfica expandida.
En Neo-mitologías para comprender el tiempo, Enero y Abril, plantea un diálogo entre las concepciones contemporáneas y ancestrales del tiempo, poniendo en tensión el tiempo propio y el tiempo productivo, así como las dimensiones espirituales que emergen en prácticas culturales no lineales, haciendo énfasis en aquellas nociones sobre el tiempo—donde la temporalidad no se entendía de manera lineal, sino como un entramado cíclico vinculado a procesos cósmicos, rituales y naturales—su investigación es un intento por repensar la relación con la temporalidad en el contexto metropolitano.
Durante su residencia, la artista produjo una instalación en base a varios dibujos, que funcionan como mapas de pensamiento, que también desde una ritualidad oracular, le ayudan a trazar rutas entre el tiempo simbólico, el tiempo histórico y el tiempo vivido.
El tiempo oracular en estos procesos de investigación está profundamente vinculado al tiempo propio como aquellas temporalidades que, además de no seguir ninguna estructura lineal, ni causal, se manifiestan a través de signos, intuiciones y revelaciones simbólicas.
Dentro de este proceso de investigación, la artista se aproxima a formas de conocimiento que emergen de prácticas espirituales, rituales y prehispánicas, donde el tiempo no se concibe como una sucesión de eventos medibles, sino como un entramado en el que distintos momentos resuenan entre sí, estableciendo conexiones inesperadas.
La importancia de atender ciertas concepciones espacio-temporales de las culturas mesoamericanas radica en que el tiempo tenía una dimensión oracular, comprendida a través de ciclos calendáricos y sistemas de interpretación simbólica propios. Desde esta perspectiva, el tiempo propio también puede entenderse como un calendario en el que los ciclos personales adquieren signos y significados específicos, conformando una memoria en la que ciertas acciones, más que buscar la comprensión de fuerzas cósmicas o lúdicas, procuran una relación con el tiempo como territorio de pertenencia y transformación.
As part of their residency at The Lab Program in Mexico City, Mexican artist Enero y Abril continues an artistic investigation exploring the perception of time by tracing certain Mesoamerican notions on the subject. The artist employs thought diagrams, archive-objects (ceramics, textiles, and mixed media), and expanded graphics.
In Neo-Mythologies for Understanding Time, Enero y Abril establishes a dialogue between contemporary and ancestral conceptions of time, highlighting the tension between personal time and productive time, as well as the spiritual dimensions that emerge from nonlinear cultural practices. Enero y Abril places particular emphasis on notions of time, where temporality was not understood as a linear sequence but rather as a cyclical framework linked to cosmic, ritual, and natural processes. Her research seeks to rethink the relationship with temporality in the metropolitan context.
During her residency, the artist produced an installation based on a series of drawings that function as thought maps. These drawings, also approached from an oracular rituality, help her trace routes between symbolic time, historical time, and lived time.
Oracular time, within these research processes, is deeply connected to personal time—those temporalities that, beyond following any linear or causal structure, manifest through signs, intuitions, and symbolic revelations.
Through this investigation, the artist engages with forms of knowledge that emerge from spiritual, ritual, and pre-Hispanic practices, where time is not conceived as a succession of measurable events but rather as a network in which different moments resonate with each other, forming unexpected connections.
The importance of exploring certain spatiotemporal conceptions of Mesoamerican cultures lies in the fact that time had an oracular dimension, understood through calendrical cycles and unique systems of symbolic interpretation. From this perspective, personal time can also be seen as a calendar in which individual cycles acquire specific signs and meanings, shaping a memory where certain actions, rather than seeking to understand cosmic or playful forces, cultivate a relationship with time as a space of belonging and transformation.
